Bak Kut Teh is a favourite meal in Malaysia. It is believed to have originated in the country but the recipe has changed over the years. It is reported to have originated in Lorong Kapitan Ledang in the Klang Valley. It is generally accepted that it was introduced by Chinese immigrants who moved to Malaysia from Southern China.
Bak Kut Teh has a complex flavour. The pork juices from the ribs infuse the other ingredients. The broth is dark but full of flavour. The mixture is often designed to be a little spicy but tastes great regardless.
